Refill Request Instructions
Our goal is to provide medications in a timely fashion. Please understand that any medication requests will need to be authorized by your treating provider. Please make your request at least 48 hours before you will run out of medication. You may request your refill online via our Athena Patient Portal 24/7 or you may call us at 813-977-4767. Placing your request on our secure portal will be the most efficient method to use and your request will be seen and acted upon each week day when the Medical Assistant logs onto Athena.
Your medication request will be reviewed with your doctor and you will be notified via the Patient Portal of his decision. Please allow 48 hours for medication requests to be acknowledged.
If you leave a telephone message, please leave as much information as possible on the voice mail. This includes your name (spell it, please) and your date of birth. If your preferred pharmacy is not assigned on the Athena Patient Portal, we will need the phone number of your pharmacy and the name of the medication(s) you are requesting. If you are requesting a refill on pain medication, please tell us how much you are using, how often you are taking it, and how many pills you have left. This will help us determine how much medication to give you. Please check your prescription bottle for refills that may already be available to you.
Please also be aware, Federal Law prohibits faxing or phoning some narcotic pain relievers and certain other "restricted substances" to the pharmacy. If your medication falls into this category, you would need to come into the office to pick up a written prescription to hand carry to the pharmacy. In addition, for all potentially addicting medications, we have taken safety measures to ensure that your own physician authorizes refills. This may create a delay in approval if the request is received on your doctor's day off. Please be sure to request these medications well in advance so you won't run out.
